It should not be a surprise that today is July 4. This is where we, the United States of America celebrate our independence. The American flag is the symbol of what used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. The colors of our flag are red, white and blue.
The problem is that we are no longer as free as we once were, and we certainly are not as brave. In fact, in my respects we are cowards. We are afraid of those who are not white, heterosexual or Christian. We are afraid of the principles in our Constitution. Actually, we are afraid of our Constitution. We are afraid to stand up for honesty and ethics. We are afraid of the Ten Commandments.
White has disappeared. Only red and blue remain, and they refuses to work together to solve America’s problems. The white, which could symbolize purity of purpose, is gone. I am hard put to find any issues that both sides think are important enough to put aside petty grievances and pure adulterated avarice to address major problems.
The first hurdle, however, is to recognize that there is only one human race. There has always been bigotry, but for a short time, the problem was improving. This is no longer the case. It is as if we were in a Time Machine, only we are going backwards.
Yes, I will stand up during The Star Spangled Banner and respect our flag, but I ain’t a happy camper
July 4th is not supposed to be hot dogs, hamburgers and barbecue or just a day the office is closed

Marlins got 3 in the 7th to beat the Cardinals 5 to 4. At the end of the year, a win is a win, and, statistically, each win is the same. However, psychologically, this win was huge. The Marlins just did not get swept 3 games to 0, in Atlanta, they got pummeled—-humiliated. Bouncing back with a win was necessary for the team’s psyche
