I hope some of you had the chance to listen to Jon Meachum Friday morning on MSNBC He is a very astute historian and has a very effective way of expressing in a simple, easy to understandable manner, ideas of a complex nature
In a nutshell, Meachum said the country is divided between those who believe in our Constitution and those who do not. He went on to say that people can disagree on a particular issue, but none of these issues matter if we have no Constitution. Trump, he says, does not want a Constitution.

Even though he reached the age of 99, the brilliant lyricist Sheldon Harnick died. He wrote “Fiddler On The Roof” and “Fiorello”. Listen to “A Little Tin Box” I just thought the lyrics were among the cleverest in the history of the theatre. I put “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” by Cole Porter in “Kiss Me Kate” and “Zip” by Lorenzo Hart in “Pal Joey” at the top of my list of comic relief songs. Serious theatre lyrics? I have at the top way above any other “You’ve Got To Be Careful Taught” by Oscar Hammerstein in “South Pacific”. Those lyrics should be moralized and part of your daily mantra.

Our House of Representatives has truly become a three ring circus. The Speaker has now embraced the idea that the indictments against Trump should be dissolved by legislative fiat even before any trials. That would sure virtually eliminate the Judiciary,, allegedly the third of three equal branches of government.
Not only could every unhappy litigant or their layers petition the House for relief, taken to its illogical conclusion, the loses of last year’s Super Bowl could bring their defeat to McCarthy and maybe become the winner. Maybe this year’s game could be decided in Washington even before it is played.
I pride myself, as a litigator, as being able to think outside the box——to come up with innovative arguments that do not occur to most lawyers. I must confess that I could never come close to conjuring up this concept of asking the legislative branch of government step in to a case a legislate the outcome. Wow!

What a horrible Marlins game last night. Blew a 1-0 lead in 9th inning giving up three runs and playing like amateurs.
However, it was just Grandson Blake accompanying me and we had a really good time. Driving down, and, for a change, the traffic was not so bad, he asked me the most provocative questions anyone has ever asked me. Example: “if you could change anything about your childhood, what would it be?”.

It was a good day with grandchildren as had a very good time with granddaughter Harper at lunch. She is very excited about starting in the honors program at the University of Florida.

See you tomorrow. At least that is my plan.
