A reader asked me my opinion of Kim Ng declining to stay on as General Manager of the Marlins. To my knowledge, there has been no explanation, but I have heard at least two reasons that are not mutually exclusive.
First, that she wanted to spend money that ownership did not want to spend. Two, that the Marlinswanted to bring in a President to whom she would report which, in essence would constitute a demotion. I have also heard she could be interested in going to another team, one of whom is the Mets.
Ben Franklin once said “three people can keeps secret if two of them are dead”. At some point, the true story will emerge. My personal opinion is that, although she was untested,, I grade her A, and would have preferred no change. If it ain’t broke, why try to fix it.
On the other hand, for those who have cruised on Seabourn, I agree that severing the relationship with Thomas Keller is good. It is particularly good for long cruises, because the menu was very limited and rarely changed. After one or two, maybe three dinners, the main dining is better.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that Jim Jordan fails. The problem is no one else is stepping up. Apparently, I am the only one in the country rooting for the Republicans to go draft Romney out of retirement.
Biden will be in Israel today. His planned visits to Jordan and Egypt have been cancelled.
We leave for the airport early this afternoon. Barbara’s popcorn is taking more room than my clothes.
Bobby and Elaine made it to lunch at our house yesterday. Bobby is doing pretty well.
Railing scheduled to be installed today. Time will tell.
Phillies look unbeatable, but so did Atlanta.
Leaving two close friends in the States with serious medical issues, but so we would not have any respite from worrying, our friend Gabriella is in the hospital in Italy.
Thank you to my trainer Dean Statler who has spent several sessions with me. Yesterday, to fit me in, he was at our house at 7:15 a.m.
I have tried, in my lifetime, to try to help others who needed help. That effort seems to be paying dividends, because now that I move much slower, and if I have to rush, I simply won’t go, others are noticeably extending themselves to helping me.
We have been flying Swiss Air through Zurich to get to Florence. However, today we are taking our old route on Lufthansa through Frankfurt.
See you tomorrow. At least that is my plan.
