Yesterday was a sea day where nothing much happened. The officers joined in trivial pursuit and our cruise director threw the day by making the largest point question one that only someone, Irving on the ship was likely to answer, to wit: how many steps are there starting from the bottom of deck 4 to the top of deck 9. Who the f—k would know that?

Again, we ate lightly and no alcohol so we feel better. The night before last the ship’s clock went back 90 minutes so we are somewhat rejuvenated.

The highlight of the day was the 6.15 p.m. show. We listened to a wonderful classical cellist play beautiful music which included Kol Nidre.

Since we spent quite a bit of time in our cabin, I had a chance to watch the news. DeSantis now has announced that he does not think the situation in Ukraine is important. That is plain damn scary, but understandable since the man does not think democracy is important. My bet is that DeSantis shot himself in the foot with some of the Republicans.

A lot of coverage was given to the possibility of Trump being indicted for the manner in which the porn star Stormy Daniels was paid off. My thoughts are as follows.

I think the whole thing is small potatoes, but Trump belongs in jail. Al Capone committed massive crimes but he went to jail, not for numerous murders, but for tax evasion. The consensus is that better he go to jail for a relatively minor offense than not go at all. I rather see Trump behind bars for the Daniels matter than not at all.

However, for me, and I may be the only one focused on this, is that Trump, who wants to be President of the United States, the leader of the free world is really an immoral bum. I think he owes all Americans more than that.

Don’t get me wrong. I do not care if anyone commits adultery. They can screw a goat, but I do not want it to be my goat, and it should not be an underage goat. If I did not talk to people who broke their marriage vows, I would be a very lonesome man.

I do think, however, that once an individual chooses to hold public office, that person should be held to a higher standard of conduct than others.

There are many reasons I never seriously thought about being a judge, but one of them is that one of my favorite things to do is go to Vegas or Reno, and gamble. I did not I could do that if I were a judge. It is important to me to avoid even the hint of an impropriety.

Why is not the media even mentioning this? Hell people like Senator Franken were forced to resign for far less questionable conduct. Why is Trump getting a pass? He does not even think of the Ten “Commandments” as the Ten “Suggestions”.

Today is another sea day. There is a wine luncheon which Barbara loves. I am still not ready to go back to alcohol but I will go anyway. How much I eat and drink remains to be seen. I am struggling some with water accumulating in my ankles so I have to be careful.

I saw a great cruise on Regent in 2026 but there is no way I can plan on another grand cruise and short cruises are really of no interest to me. There is no way to predict the future, but if I had to guess, I think I want to continue to work as much as I can and be in Italy for most of the rest of the time.

The futures are crashing as I finish this post.

See you tomorrow. At least that is my plan.

Go Ukraine
