I know it cannot happen, but I would love the colleges and law schools from which Cruz and Hawley graduated to rescind their degrees or somehow make it known that they did not educate these guys to be total assholes.

USC had its Rose Bowl win rescinded, Simpson lost his Heisman Trophy, and Cosby’s Kennedy Center Honor was taken away. It is just wrong for these jerks to have the prestige they have due to academic excellence which is being used for evil purposes.

I am not giving up my day job to pursuit these thoughts. However, I share them anyway. —————————— I think the biggest news of the day is Judge David Carter’s well-reasoned ruling that Donald Trump’s actions “more likely than not constitute attempts to obstruct an official proceeding”. Carter, a Clinton appointment, wrote that “Trump likely knew the electoral college count plan had no factual justification”. Trump’s plan “was a last ditch attempt to secure the Presidency by any means”

My favorite part: “It is more likely than not that President Trump and Dr. Eastman dishonestly conspired to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021. Eastman and Trump “launched a campaign to overturn a democratic election, an action unprecedented in American history. Their campaign was a coup in search of a legal theory …..if *[the] plan had worked, it would have permanently ended the peaceful transition of power, undermining American democracy and the Constitution. If the country does not commit to investigating and pursuing accountability for those responsible, the Court fears January 6 will repeat itself”.

My initial observations are as follows:

1. The burden of proof in a criminal case is “beyond a reasonable doubt." These findings do not go that far, but deciding that, just based on what he knew so far, if the burden were “by a preponderance of the evidence, that burden is already met." This, in my view, means that the criminal authorities absolutely must commence criminal proceedings and do it quickly because...

2. There is no doubt in my mind that the Republicans, who have virtually no respect for the rule of law, will dismantle everything the January 6 Committee has accomplished if they take control of the House. Heed my words, please. Everything that is being done must be put on the fastest track possible. Delays highly favor the Republicans. —————————- Don Young died at 88. He was the longest serving Republican member of the House in history. His body will lie in State. Young was from Alaska. —————————. Something must be said about a seven hour and 37 minute gap in Trump’s phone records for January 6. I am sure you Republicans just shrug your shoulders and say “Trump is Trump”.

The man has to go to jail, but even from jail, I am not sure we can be rid of him.

By the way, Trump is urging Putin to release documents about Hunter Biden. Why is Trump dealing with Putin about anything? Both Putin and Trump are absolutely menaces. The Russians, however, seem to be smarter than we Americans. Everyday, thousands of Russians are risking imprisonment protesting against Putin. Everyday, thousands of Americans are pledging their undying loyalty to Trump. Go figure. —————————- I will discuss the Clarence/Ginni Thomas tomorrow as well as some sports news of interest.

Sorry this was posted late. The delay was unavoidable.
