Our two days in Ferrara and Bologna were nice. Used Ferrara as our base. The hotel was underwhelming. The towels were so thin I could close my suitcase. Checkout was 11. I asked to stay until 12. Hotel wanted 30 euros to stay until 2. That did not help me, but a hour did. The front desk gave me a hard time until I reminded them that we had no working telephone the first night and asked whether that entitled me to a reduced rate. I got the extra hour requested at no charge.

There are many great museums in Ferrara. Barbara and I went to National Gallery. It had some truly magnificent paintings and sculptures.

We then met Stefano are Trattoria Noemi for our third visit to what is rated the number one restaurant in Ferrara. It has a Michelin star, but is about half the price of the equivalent in Florence.
A taxi picked us up at the restaurant, took us to our hotel to get our bag and then to the train station. Only sometimes is executive class available on the trains, but it was coming back. Seats are more comfortable and all food and drink is included. Still full from lunch, I had only cappuccino.
