Last night was my last Marlin game for the regular season and likely the post season. The Brewers scored 12 runs in the second inning, missing two extra points. The final score was 16 to 1, but Walter and I were long gone before the end. Stayed 5 innings.
The dinner menu, if I were to guess , was selected by someone on psychedelic drugs. Bison, crocodile and smoked fish dish. Maybe they thought “Miller hasn’t been in the hospital lately, what can we do about that?”.
Lots of work to do at house today. Would like to see at least some of the Michigan game which starts at noon.
McCarthy, who was too busy to host Zelenskyy, and with the shutdown looming, sent the House home for thee weekend. What a piece of work! He has put his pride above the best welfare of our country and is a disgrace.
President Biden is scheduled to join the picket line in favor of the union in the auto strike . Will that get Biden their support? One would think so, but I would not bet my life on it.
Meanwhile we are facing a government shutdown. The vast majority of thee people have no idea of what that means. It will be a disaster. Meanwhile Schumer and McConnell both know better and they are trying to do what they can to avert a shutdown.
I believe promises are sacred. I would like to say that I have never broken a promise. I cannot. I can say I have never broken a sacred promise or my marital vows.
However, I have learned that sometimes circumstances arise that make keeping a promise impossible. When that occurs, a meaningful explanation is in order butt the promise has to be broken. McCarthy has to break his promise to those to whom he sold his soul to gain the Speakership. The good of the country has to come first. If McCarthy, does the right thing, he will lose the lunatic fringe who will try to remove him, but he could, really should, gain the support of others who will respect what he did.
I would much rather lose the respect of those who do not think I did the right thing,, than gain the respect of some for doing the wrong thing. It is an easy choice for me.
See you tomorrow. At least that is my plan.
