Friday was my most active day since I broke my leg. Had over 9400 steps. I was really exhausted by the end of the day but “no pain no gain”.. Also, and this is really important, I am doing better getting out of chairs. Still not doing great and sometimes it really is painful, but I am doing the best I can.
We did not gamble very much yesterday. Won a little each of the two times we went to the tables, but still behind for the trip.
Everyone is still digesting the reversal of Roe v Wade. I saw one post on Facebook where a man thanked God about the decision gloating about it. He gives new meaning to the term “super schmuck”.
One thing, among many, I am having trouble understanding is why there are not screams about the three Justices who out and out lied at their confirmation hearings.
It is going to get worse not better. Thomas has already indicated he thinks gay marriage should not be legal.
Dick’s Sporting Goods will provide up to $4000 travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where abortion can be legally obtained. This is good but if one keeps reading the announcement, these benefits are available only to those enrolled in the Company’s medical plan along with one support person. This benefit is available to all employees and not to the public at large.
I predict many companies will take similar steps. I also predict that the conservatives will try to try to find a way to penalize this kind of action.
The Democrats must take the offensive so that every voter knows that voting Republican means voting for the ban on abortion and voting Democratic is a vote for Choice.
A couple of good things happened yesterday.
First, Governor DeSantis vetoed the alimony bill in Florida. That comes as a surprise to most although, at least this one time, the Governor is right——the retroactively provision terminating permanent alimony is unconstitutional.
Second, there was a huge upswing in the stock market. I do not know why, but I will take it.
We finally have some gun legislation. It is not great, but for many, not all, half a loaf is better than none. I think it is incredible that only 14 House Republicans voted for the bill.
Marlins lost to Mets despite their best pitcher being on the mound. Mets just too strong. There is a real chance it will be a Subway World Series.
