I started to make notes as I turned on the January 6 Congressional hearing. Made the few notes set forth below below and stopped but that does not mean I have no more comments.

January 6 Hearing:

1. Both opening statements were effective. They were totally different but reached me, so I give them both good grades. Frankly, I thought Cheney was exceptional.

2. Bill Barr’s testimony would be devastating in a real courtroom. Whether it is effective in the courtroom of the nation is another story.

3. Should be effective that Trump’s daughter supported Barr’s position.

4. Pence is also important. Having Republicans support the Committee allegations is smart.

I do read Heather Cox Richardson, and this morning her first point was the same one that I kept thinking about. I think she hit it perfectly when she said the following, which, if you Republicans heard nothing else, should be heeded:

“Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: there will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”

I think that last night was a big success. Unfortunately, Fox News would not broadcast anything, so the people who really needed to hear the evidence remain ignorant. Fox, I am told, did not even run commercials lest watchers start surfing other channels during the breaks and unexpectedly hear the truth.

I said it yesterday and I will say it again. Donald Trump is nothing more than a spoiled brat who, to this day, cannot accept he legitimately lost an election. There is no evidence, no person, no logic, no feeling of patriotism, or respect for our Constitution that will convince Trump otherwise. ————————————- And the Marlins won 7 to 4. I watched only the first hour before tuning to the hearings, but was glad to see Rogers pitch better. More interesting was an interview with Alcantara who really impressed me with his work ethic. There is a reason he may be the best in the league. I will reserve commenting on Stephen Strasburg because it is premature to do so. —————————— It cannot happen and this is just my sense of humor, but I would love to see the House debate the Bill on added security for the 9 Justices on a justice-by-justice basis. Can you imagine Pelosi with the gavel saying, “We will now debate the added security for Justice Alito”? ——————————- Very bad inflation numbers this morning. Stock market will have another bad day, but it will eventually recover. Too many Americans will have more than a bad day and they need help. The Democrats, at least most of them, embrace the concept of helping the less fortunate. For Republicans, it is survival of the fittest.

Their philosophy puzzles me. No abortions but once kids are born, no help for them. Then, if lucky enough to survive, they get massacred by a gun wacko who can buy a semi-automatic weapon easier than buying a beer or making a taco.

Meanwhile we pay our athletes hundreds of millions and we pay our teachers, soon to be soldiers, not enough to live with dignity. Query: if teachers are to do two jobs, should they not get paid for each one? ———————- Think Caesars Palace and other Sports Books can handicap where the next gun massacre will be. Texas and Michigan are the early favorites. Not sure about Florida because old people do not seem to be as popular as children with their whole lives ahead of them. I tried buying the Proud Boys Manual but Amazon was out so I have no more information except that I did read that the Uvalde killer is a hero among other wackos who are being encouraged to do the same thing.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice ——————————- Go Ukraine
