If God wanted me to touch my toes, she would have put them on my knees.

Burt Bacharach died. It is a loss to the music world as he wrote some really good music. We saw him headline at The Diplomat many years ago and he was actually quite a good and accomplished performer. Here's a link to one of his concerts where he performs many of his greatest hits: https://youtu.be/3exUsVaJjxc
His death was a greater loss to the music world than it was to humanity. Even reading his own autobiography, he comes off as a bastard. The book by one of his ex-wives Carole Bayer Sager makes him look even worse. When the judge who was marrying them asked “Do you take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife in sickness and in health 'til death do you part?”, Burt said “I’ll try” .Sager wrote “I got a husband with an addiction to porn, an aversion to my touch, and an appetite for a woman half his age”.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh.

Nice day yesterday. We went to a great grocery store, walked around a beautiful island and had lunch at a curbside food stand which was filled with local Polynesians. We had fresh tuna caught about an hour before we at it. A plate of tuna, delicious rice and a terrific fresh cabbage salad with a Coca Cola Zero was less than $15 and enough for Us to split. When in a port, we try to eat local food and rarely have gone wrong and never gotten sick. It is more fun when I can drink the local beer or have some wine but I have a couple of more pounds to lose before a wine tasting and dinner at Keller’s on Saturday and, hopefully, a Super Bowl party Sun day.
Finally found Gulden’s mustard and mayonnaise light so I can cut down the calories in various dishes. The crew is very accommodating in this and just about every other regard.
Since Barbara had half a lunch yesterday, she did not go to dinner. I went with my transplanted South African friends and a couple they met who just got on the ship in Papeete. Both are doctors from California. One is a vascular surgeon and one a Professor of Oncology. We ate outside by the pool. Service was extremely slow so even though we sat down at 7, we were not finished until almost 9:30 when the show starts so I went to the show which was fine.

Today we are in Uturoa, Raiatea, French Polynesia. It is billed as one of the best islands in French Polynesia for sailing, deep-sea fishing and scuba diving

Yesterday the market started way up and ended way down. Right now the Dow is up, the Nasdaq way down.

I was happy to see that, after being briefed, Romney backed the Administration’s handling of the Chinese Balloon situation . At least there is one sane Republican.

What has Liz Cheney been up to? Maybe I just have missed it, but she seems to have disappeared. I would have loved hearing her comments about the State of the Union.

One of my most erudite readers did not like that it took Biden well into his speech to get to a particular issue. That is the kind of criticism that does make sense to me. There are dozens and dozens of issues that needed to be addressed and they were addressed. The order in which they were addressed seems to me to be irrelevant. Only one issue can be first. Only one can be second etc...
Of course, it is a different story if war just broke out and the President starts by talking about jobs. Otherwise, I care more about what the President says and not when he says it.

See you tomorrow. At least that is my plan.
